93% will buy Christmas presents online in 2009

According to a new survey from the Interactive Retail in Media Group (IMRG) and eDigitalResearch, 93% of British consumers will carry out some of their Christmas purchases online this year.

The increase in confidence in shopping online and the need to hunt out the lowest prices mean that many more people will be using the Internet to do their Christmas shopping.

In fact the survey found that 71% of those surveyed stated that they planned to do at least half of their Christmas gift shopping online.

"Given the online price-war, retailers need to up their game and prove that they can respond effectively to all customer queries through their preferred method of contact," said Chris Russell, Director of eDigitalResearch.

"Having good communication with consumers is vital as it encourages trust in the brand and engenders consumer loyalty. Retailers that will succeed are those that anticipate online growth and ensure that they are well-resourced to effectively communicate with their customers."

Christmas postal strike called off

What better news than to know that your Christmas cards and presents will arrive on time this year.

The Postal Workers Union has called off the third round of strikes in an agreement with the Royal Mail.

It means that the Christmas post is safe meaning we can relax a little know in the knowledge that this is no longer something that needs to be considered this Christmas.

Some good news then.

Robert Zemeckis's A Christmas Carol

On 6 November 2009 Disney are releasing Robert Zemick's stop animation film of the famous Dickens story, A Christmas Carol. This is the film that Robert Zemeckis thought he would never make.

For the movie, Jim Carrey went before computerised cameras wearing just leotards fitted with electronic sensors and created a series of distinctive characterisations such as the timeless old miser, Ebenezer Scrooge, who is the centrepiece of the story, including the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future, as well as images of the younger Scrooge.

Using variations in facial expressions and body language and subtly altering his vocal performances, Carrey created all of these people, thereby enabling Zemeckis and his team of visual-effects wizards to digitally create Victorian costumes and settings for these characters and transform them into animated beings that are — in Zemeckis’s words — “more realistically alive.”

The new movie is launched this Friday and we're really looking forward to what promises to be another masterpiece from Zemeckis.

Hot Seller - Tania Princess Doll

The latest princess doll from Disney is already proving to be quite a seller in the run up for Christmas and it's surely got to be every little girl's dream toy this year.

We're still waiting to see the film itself but if the trailer is anything to go by it promises to be another hit from Disney.

The Tiana Princess doll is very cool. It comes with a frog prince that when it comes close to Tiana's lips she turns her head away. Luckily for the frog eventually he gets lucky and at this point the Princess Tiana doll lights up.
